Peppermint Oil

Peppermint (Mentha piperita) is a plant native to Europe and has been widely used as a medicinal herb worldwide. The plant and its oils has also been extensively used in cosmetic formulations.

Peppermint oil is known for its cold and tingling feeling. It increases blood circulation and when applied to the scalp, it can help promote hair growth during the growing(anagen) phase. Peppermint has anesthetic, antiviral, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, antispasmodic, and carminative properties.

A study conducted in 2014 by Korean Society of Toxicology found that peppermint oil performed better than minoxidil for hair growth.  When used on mice, study observed peppermint oil increased the number of follicles, follicle depth, and overall hair growth.
