How to take care of your skin in summers?

Summers can be an extremely exhausting time for your skin. Each year summers take a huge toll on the skin. The scorching heat, combined with pollution and humidity wipes off the natural glow and invites infection. This leaves the skin oily, dull and blemished. To avoid these hassles and keep your skin radiant like before, here are a few things you need to follow before your skin gets damaged.

1. Exfoliate

The basic rule to keep your skin healthy is to exfoliate your skin. Our body sheds skin cells at a very high rate every minute each day. It's essential to get rid of them. Otherwise, they set in the skin and make it look dull and dry. No matter how many lotions and creams you use, if you do not exfoliate, your skin will never look radiant. So, grab a body scrub and hit the shower straightaway! Exfoliate your skin twice or thrice a week and enjoy beautiful skin all throughout the year.

2. Sunscreen

Everyone knows the importance of sunscreen yet only a few uses it consistently. Go for a sunscreen that has UVA and UVB products and comes in SPF 30 and SPF 70. It was found out that most people don't use sunscreen in the right quantity. It is recommended to use a full shot glass for your body and a full teaspoon of sunscreen for your face. While you are in the sun, make sure you reapply it after every hour or so. This will stop your skin from getting damaged by the harmful rays of the sun. Make sure you cover your hands, feet, shoulders, and neck too.

3. Avoid heavy make-up whenever possible

Heavy makeup prevents your skin from breathing. The humidity and heat suppress the skin's ability to breathe as well. Under the intolerant heat, natural and minimal make-up looks work the best. Even if you are using a foundation, apply a face powder with SPF to avoid patchy skin. Use a lip balm or gloss with an SPF 15 to protect your lips and make them look fresh. Using a tinted moisturiser, tinted lip balm and organic kajal can be the way to go to give your skin some rest.

4. Change the moisturizer

The arrival of the summer season means you have to ditch those heavy moisturizers and lotions for a lighter moisturizer. During the summers, one needs to have a moisturizer that doesn't take much time to sink in. Gels and purees are perfect for summers as they are fast absorbents. Don't be under the misunderstanding that your skin doesn't require moisturizer during the summers. Make sure you apply the moisturizer right after your dry off from the shower. Look for moisturizers containing antioxidants such as vitamins A and C.

5. Have more water and fruit juices

The water intake during the summers should be a minimum of 2-3 litres per day. If possible, carry a water bottle along with you at all places and drink at least once every 30 minutes. Water helps in keeping you fresh, prevention of dehydration, and washing the toxins and impurities out of the body. Coconut water, watermelons, and fresh juices are also a great way to keep your body hydrated. Add yogurt and buttermilk to your daily diet and stay away from sugary drinks.

6. Use a light weight skin oil

Skin oil hydrates your skin in a natural way and keeps it soft and smooth throughout the day. Our prickly pear seed oil (Radiance) is a great dry luxury oil, suitable for all skin types.

The human skin changes with the season. Hence, it's very important to adapt and take care of the skin in a similar way. The skin requires extra attention and care during the summers. With the steps mentioned above, you can protect your skin as well as keep it healthy and hydrated.
